Henry Chadwick Primary School

Henry Chadwick Primary School is a 3-11 primary school in the village of Hill Ridware, part way between Rugeley and Lichfield, and is an over-subscribed setting at the heart of its community.

The school is graded OFSTED ‘Good’ and consistently scores high levels of achievement from students through a passionate commitment to providing a lively, creative and engaging experience.

The school’s motto is ‘Learn to Live’ and the curriculum is carefully designed to fit the school’s climate and prepares every child for their successful progression into secondary school.

The school works to create a happy, caring, secure environment in which children can develop confidence, individuality and good learning habits. The school strives to nurture and develop the whole child, preparing each individual for the experiences, opportunities and responsibilities of adult life. In this way each child has the opportunity to achieve his or her potential.

The school’s aims reflect this approach and they entirely dovetail with the our Trust’s founding principles which underpin our wider approach:

Vicki Barnes, the school’s Headteacher, has a long-term commitment to Henry Chadwick having been at the school since 2010, initially as Assistant Headteacher. She is absolutely dedicated to the school, its children, its families and its community. She is an integral part of the school and school life and is highly respected.

Elsewhere, Vicki is pro-active in her work as part of a team of local school leaders to monitor and improve provision and outcomes in a cluster of local schools. She has strong local relationships with her peers – both in the Trust and the wider educational world – and her specialisms, including numeracy and safeguarding, mean she is extremely well-placed to lead the school to further success.

Although Vicki has lived locally for many years and has strong links to the community, her childhood was spent in South Africa. This global context means she has been extremely keen to bring the enriching sporting and educational experiences, that she was exposed to, into the small village school where she is based. She has a particular passion for wild swimming and brings her enjoyment of life into her professional practice.
