Henry Chadwick students got the chance to boost up their reading by taking up the offer to be amongst the first visitors to a new Waterstone bookshop in Lichfield. The students were invited to take a look around the new Market Street branch of Waterstones as it welcomed customers for the first time after opening.Vicki Barnes, Headteacher, said: “They perused a fantastic selection of children’s books before choosing some to update their classroom libraries. The children enjoyed sharing their love of books with the friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff. The visit has certainly instigated lots of book talk in and around school and the children can’t wait to return.”Matt Allman, CEO of The Greywood Multi-Schools Trust, added: “Our schools place a great emphasis on encouraging reading and the new Lichfield store is a welcome addition to our high street which, alongside our school libraries, Staffordshire’s mobile school library, and the multitude of second-hand book stores in Lichfield, mean there are numerous opportunities to gift a child a book to read.
